Parshvanatha is the earliest of the Jain tirthankara, the supreme spiritual teachers of Jainism. He is generally acknowledged as a historical figure. According to Paul Dundas (1952 2023), Jain texts from the Isibhasiyam provide circumstantial evidence that he lived in ancient India. Other historians such as Hermann Jacobi (1850 19370 have also accepted him as a historical
