Ekstrem chair by Terje Ekstrøm for Stokke VASES or with a stoolWhen Norwegian designer Terje Ekstrm created his eponymous chair in the 1970s, it was a radical departure from the conventions of Scandinavian furniture design. The Ekstrem which translates to "extreme" is a colorful, squiggly, and playful masterpiece of seating design. Despite its wild form, the chair's foam encased steel frame is sturdy and surprisingly comfortable and provides endless opportunities for use: Face forward, backwards, or to the side.
