If you need to access the tailgate lock mechanism for any reason you would have to compromise this self adhesive foam panel which is bonded in place

(this can also be identified by checking that there are three wires going to the original lamp connector)

Once the tap-in loom is plugged in you just need to connect your switch via the spring lever connector

The bracket is an all metal construction (aluminium)
