Among its many meanings, it symbolizes the connection between the sky, the earth, and the underworld. I chose to include it in my portrait to represent how, within ourselves, we too can inhabit these three worlds. In my own life, I have experienced many symbolic deaths, and I have also felt myself being born anew. The person I am today is the reflection of the many
